Mandala Month at Peaceful Painting Club: Mindful Art for a Calmer August
I don’t know about you, but to me, August always feels like a turning point. Summer’s still here, but the energy is already shifting. Schedules are creeping in, life starts to feel busy as heck, the back-to-school buzz is starting whether you have kids or not, and fall’s busy season… along with the upcoming holidays (?!) is waiting just around the corner.
It can be an energizing but overstimulating, overwhelming, and exhausting time of year.
So this year in the Peaceful Painting Club, we’re intentionally choosing a different path:
We’re declaring August our Meditative Mandala Month! This month’s Monthly Spark theme is a gentle, creative invitation to slow down, come back to center, and create tiny moments of calm through art.
Whether you’ve been painting with us for years or you’re brand new to our studio, this is a beautiful month to join us inside Peaceful Painting Club. Our theme this month is all about mandalas, circles that hold healing, presence, rhythm, and flow.
You need absolutely zero art experience to join us and feel the benefits of calming, healing art-making in community (without leaving the house, PJs totally ok!). No perfect circles necessary. Just you, your supplies, and your willingness to make some marks.
Here’s what’s happening in August:
🌼 Five Live Classes exploring different types of mandalas: from ancient spiritual designs to personal and expressive forms, from sacred geometry to wildflower-inspired blooms.
🌸 A Daily Mini-Mandala Challenge with 31 simple word prompts to spark a tiny circle each day. You’ll create one small mandala a day and share it in our community using #MandalaMonth for a chance to win a mandala-themed prize pack full of supplies, coloring books, and cozy treats.
💫 A Mandala Workbook with templates and spaces for notes to help you explore the meaning, history, and creative potential of mandalas, in your way, at your pace.
Mandalas have been used across cultures and centuries as a form of meditation, expression, and healing. Inside our studio, they become a quiet act of rebellion against perfectionism, hustle culture, and burnout. We’re going to slow down, learn a bit, relax, and have some creative fun through the intentional creation of mandalas.

Sunday, August 3 - Live Class - 3pm-4:30pm ET
Sacred Circles: Exploring the Roots of Mindful Mandala Painting
Learn the history and meaning of mandalas in spiritual traditions like Buddhism and Hinduism
Create your own simple symbolic mandala inspired by ancient forms (no rulers required!)
Use watercolor or ink to add intuitive color and personal meaning
End with a short reflection: What feels sacred or centering to you right now?
Wednesday, August 13 - Live Class - 8pm-9:30pm ET
Circle Your Truth: Making Mandalas for Self-Expression
Explore two types of expressive mandalas: intuitive (no plan, just flow) and emotional (based on a feeling, memory, or mood)
Use marks, color, and shape to reflect your inner world without needing words
Try using a prompt or song to guide your piece, no pressure to explain, just feel it out
Leave with a page that’s not about looking good, but about feeling honest and complete
Friday, August 22 - Live Class - 12pm-1pm ET
Cosmic Circles: Mandalas of the Stars
Create a zodiac-inspired mandala using your sun, moon, or rising sign as a starting point
Incorporate astrological symbols, planets, or constellations in your design
Pair your personal chart with intuitive colors and shapes that represent how you feel
Use this as a playful, symbolic way to reflect on your current energy and what you’re moving toward
Wednesday, August 27 - Live Class - 9pm-10pm ET
Patterns & Pathways: Mandalas with Meaning
Learn the basics of geometric mandalas using simple tools (compass, ruler, or even tracing lids!)
Explore Celtic-inspired patterns like knots and endless loops to represent cycles and connection
Reflect on what patterns or paths keep showing up in your life and how they feel in your body and art
Sunday, August 31 - Live Class - 11am-12:30pm ET
Wild Bloom: Mandalas from Nature
Use florals, leaves, and natural shapes to create soft, flowing mandalas that feel alive and intuitive
Explore radial symmetry without strict rules, let your lines and petals wander
Try layering watercolor blooms with pen or pencil details for a mixed-media garden vibe
Reflect on what’s blooming or fading in your life as summer comes to a close
